Shiatsu

A powerful hands on therapy that originated in Japan using the theories of Chinese Medicine which consider that the human body works as a unit rather than as a group of separate functioning parts and treatments consider and treat the whole person.

Shiatsu stimulates the body’s healing power of balancing and harmonising energy. This is achieved by using the practitioner’s fingers, palms and knees together with stretching and massage techniques to allow greater awareness of blockages and dis-eases within the body and treat them effectively.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A TREATMENT?

You will be asked about your medical history, general health, lifestyle, diet and concerns. Treatments usually take place on a futon and you remain fully clothed (please wear loose trousers and a cotton top). The treatment involves a range of techniques from gentle holding, dynamic stretches, joint mobilisation and work on specific pressure points and deep breathing techniques.
